Let’s face it, MLM gets a bad wrap! Most of us have vivid memories of being invited to a secret meeting, only to have the white board rolled out and be told why laundry concentrate is better than the stuff you buy in the Supermarket.

My Early Experience in MLM

My introduction to this industry was in 1972 with a company called Aladdin. I was invited to a huge meeting and left purchasing a position for $60. Some spent thousands to be grandfathered in at the top level. This was a true pyramid, although no one ever said that! In the late 1970s I was convinced to join Amway and remember my local Distributor with his garage full of products. I had another go in the mid 1980s and decided this industry was not for me. This one ended with me phoning all my neighbours and inviting them to one of those home meetings, supplying refreshments and then getting cold shouldered for months afterwards! That is what happens when you live in a small rural community,.

How I Was Romanced Into Network Marketing

You can imagine I was rather resistant to the idea when someone answered an ad for seminars I was holding and invited me to visit him, 100kms from my home. I have always followed my hunches, and discovered he was a skydiver and had a marketing degree. I was writing a book at the time, and he seemed perfect for the forward. I kept in contact.

His first attempt was a water filter company. After constant nagging, he convinced me to try some stuff which he assured me would make my car more economical. It worked and after using 20% less fuel on a long trip, I went to another of those big meetings. They drew all the circles and the 2 x 2 x 2 and told me how I could be rich in a year by following their plan. Well, I knew the product worked, so I bought in at $1,068.00 for 3 business centres.

It was just before Christmas 1997, and I was living on my credit card, paying the interest every month to keep me afloat! On the way out after signing up, my sponsor said, “for $30 you can join 2 other networks, and we can build 3 at once”. Well, $30 seemed very small after what I had just done, so I did what I was told.

For two months nothing happened. Everyone I approached told me to go away. It seemed everyone had tried MLM before and no one liked the idea. It dampened my spirits somewhat. I was in the fortunate position that I was holding festivals with Natural Health, Personal Development and Environment as the theme. We set up booths for each business and scheduled lectures on health.

Business starts To Grow

My first team member was a stall holder. To this day she still orders product and is part of my networking business. I would estimate I have earned at least $100,000 from this one person and all the down line created as a result. I still earn $1,000 a month from her contacts! After 2 months and 6 festivals I received a $436 cheque, not from the fuel company, but the $30 nutrition one. I was excited. Eventually I recovered my $1,000 investment from the fuel company, but never really made much.

Move forward to 2010. I established 3 solid MLM businesses during the last 12 years. Each provides in excess of $1,000 a month residual income, month after month. Two of those are on autopilot, and the other I am building. One month I earned $15,089 in commission, not bad for residual income. In that time I have earned numerous reward trips with the various companies and Network Marketing has given us the lifestyle freedom to choose when and where we work (if that is what you call it!) I have run the business from Guatemala, Cancun in Mexico, Hamilton Island, Las Vegas, New York and many other locations around the globe. It is a rewarding lifestyle.

Why I Believe In Network Marketing

So why do I believe in this business model? Quite simply, it is brilliant if you use it correctly. Let’s face it, not too many people reach even $100,000 a year and if you talk to them you will find they put enormous effort in. Don’t be deluded that it is easy and everyone wants to join you – they don’t. Randy Gage says, “Most people are happy leading quiet lives of desperation,” and I agree. Imagine an extra $1,000 into your bank account every month from work you did years ago! I have that and more.

Let us get down to practical matters. Over the last 12 years I have become smarter! I have been through all the pain of cold calling, harassing friends and relatives, renting stalls at numerous markets and festivals. I have travelled interstate just to run meetings and at one stage I was the presenter for company meetings in two cities! Would you like to know my formula for success in MLM in 2010?

Nowadays I have added internet marketing to my bow. I can reach millions with a simple ad on google and build my business world wide. I know just like Network Marketers, most people on the internet make little money, because they don’t know how to profit from their efforts. In fact last weekend I spent 3 days with Armand Morin, probably the leading Internet Marketing expert in the world, talked to lots of people and all but a few were either starting out or struggling!

My Secret Formula For Success.

I market Network Marketing products on the internet and products on how to make money. From this I get a bunch of people who buy my products, both for making money and better health, an area I am passionate about. I introduce these people to the concept of residual income. That gives them an avenue to continually add more people to the network, gaining up front income to fund lead generation and a growing residual income to support their lifestyle.

I then teach others what I do and those that apply themselves start earning residual income as well. This means that you don’t have to make any profits on sales, because it is the residual income you are seeking. It is a simple formula and it works! Oh yes, did I tell you I never call anyone unless they ask me to! I market my business and answer emails and phone calls. My systems sort out the enquiries and I get a 90% close rate when I actually talk to someone! This is exceptional in this industry. My team members get so used to this, they can’t relate to cold calling 500 people who say they are interested in making money and making nothing out of the entire list. They are spoilt.

A Little Investment Advice.

Do you know how much you would need in the bank to earn $1,000 a month? Well, it is around $250,000 at today’s interest rates. $5,000 a month would require well over $1m in the bank. You can set up a $1,000 a month residual income in less than a year. How long would it take you to save $250,000 in your current situation? This is the real advantage of Network Marketing.

Can you see this model as an alternative to a JOB? You can do this while working in your day time job, and add $1,000 or more part time, or keep going and create a full time income. This is working smarter, not harder. If this concept appeals to you, contact me. I can set you up with all the tools and training to do this as well. It is easy to follow, step by step and it works!

My initial question was the case for Network Marketing. With the ability to sell products at cost, and build a long term residual income, can you think of a better way to live. It is worth the effort, learning curve and time involved. When you get there, you choose if and when you work, have a lifestyle that will be the envy of your neighbours, and the time freedom to live life as you choose!
