By John Gaydon

How many times have you heard this! Why would anyone wish for a life filled with uncertainty, where a single action can net millions, and you have time freedom to do what you want, every moment of every day? Why would anyone want to be in a position where they take paid vacations, and return to find their bank account has grown? Why would you work 10-20 hours a week when after 2 years you may only get $2-5,000 a month in permanent residual (that means you don’t have to work for it anymore) income?

Why Not Settle for A Salary?

If you get a real job, you don’t have to put up with any of this! You can have the uncertainty that you can get laid off or retired early at any time. You get to go to work 40-80 or even more hours a week and do what you are told by someone else. Mind you, while you have your job you do get a regular paycheck, and often you don’t need to use your creative brain.

I have been living the life on an Entrepreneur for 23 years now, and one thing that is certain, the world is constantly changing. We live in a world dominated by Big Business. This group is intent of owning all of the means of production and letting the rest of us have just enough so we will keep working. That was the reason Keynes invented income tax back in the 1930′s. He worked out if everyone had more than they needed, they would no longer work for the rich willingly! Our entire economic system is designed to keep us captive and under the control of Big Business.

Big Business Wants To Own You!

Who do these people own? First, is the media. Once there were many independent radio, TV and Newspaper outlets all over the world. Those intent on free speech would set up their own voice and get their message to the world. One by one rich media barons have consumed these publications and now their opinion is public opinion! Yes, they mould what we think – and they have a big say in what the government does.

Let’s look at retail. Do you have a mega shopping center in your area? Once upon a time local producers would sell their goods to the corner store who would then supply the population with good fresh food. Then along came the rich Supermarket Chains and gradually ran the corner stores out of business with superior range and cheaper prices, not to mention massive national advertising campaigns. These days corner shops can be cheaper than supermarkets, but we are all duped by massive advertising and formed habits, to driving to the local supermarket, paying premium prices, and feeling like we saved money! Food is now processed, frozen or kept in cold storage. It is radiated, gassed, etc to look, taste and feel good.

There is More!

I used to run seminars on personal development and health. Along comes the “Health Promotion Unit” of the local hospital. They supply hugely subsidized competition, covering rent and payment of their hospital qualified instructors. The Adult Education Centres, another government initiative, cut out many independent trainers, paying them a much lower rate to run classes under their umbrella. Again, looks good on the outside, but strips away our capacity to create wealth. Even the lowly pawn shop is struggling as megastores run by charities use volunteer staff and donations to undercut second hand dealers. Have you noticed these are disappearing. Subsidised, tax free religious charities have an unfair business advantage too!

By now you probably think I am an anarchist, and I probably am. There are the megaindustries. I mean Big Pharma, Food Technology, Healthcare, Mining, Petrochemical, to name a few. Do you think they have our welfare in mind? No, they are looking to add to their greedy profits, while keeping up the appearance they care. Whenever anyone becomes a threat to these giants, they will either buy them out or run them out of town, just like the gunslingers of the wild west.

So what is my point here?

Well, as an entrepreneur, right now the freedom of the internet is under threat. This people’s forum has grown so large that the Big End of town is suddenly interested. We have had it good for years with google PPC, and other ways of building a list and educating people on whatever area we choose. This is changing. As large companies move in with dirty tricks and misinformation, they will scrutinize us more and more to see how to get us out of the way. You are going to see this happen in the next few years as more and more people move on line for purchases.

We are always in this position. Read the trends and use your brain to stay ahead of the pack. Look where the competition is not doing things well, and move in! Direct mail is becoming more viable again. There are so many TV stations, you can get air time for ads and get on talk shows. We should not fear the future, we should read the trends and act quickly.

The one advantage we have as small business people is that we can change strategies in a flash. We don’t have to get budget approval, board sanctions, etc. We can think up a new strategy in an overnight dream and have it actioned by lunchtime. This is our advantage.

I love being an entrepreneur. I love helping motivate and train others in ways to outsmart the wave of big business. We only need a very tiny portion of the economy to set ourselves up very nicely. I mean who needs 12 billion? You just can’t spend that much in a lifetime, unless you buy a country.
