Prosperity is a word which is thrown about quite a bit. Do we fully understand what it definitely means to be prosperous? The literal interpretation includes two individual meanings. The first suggests becoming successful. It signifies possessing good luck in one or many of the areas associated with ones own life. Most could possibly think of this as great luck or perhaps a windfall of sorts. The other definition of prosperity means success in a more general view. Related to that which comes through the persistent flow of success in a business enterprise. It is thought to be a good deal more of a prosperous time period, not just abundance alone.
On the level associated with countries, abundance is typically calculated by the GDP. Most experts feel that this particular strategy has a lot of shortcomings because it ignores aspects like the costs associated with harming air and water, as well as the costs sustained by car accidents or caused by crime. Researchers happen to be actually trying to develop a well being index.
Presently there happen to be several complications with this particular undertaking. One is the problems concerned in identifying the costs of environmental destruction or expressing the disappearance of a species in terms of dollars and cents. These people don’t want to be accused of being arbitrary in their choice of which signals to utilize.
To put it differently, there is no lack of recommendations relating to the best way to specify well-being. That is specifically because the large range of conceivable solutions that the prominence connected with the classic growth concept is actually so tough to rest. Up to now, anyhow, virtually no different system has come out on top. Individuals encounter the exact dilemma.
Despite the fact that the dictionary can certainly clarify the premise of prosperity, only you’re able to establish it for yourself. While others may see massive homes and new cars as prosperity, you may possibly not look at it that way. It’s possible that success comes in the form of how long you can spend with family. Perhaps it is the number of children you have. The definition of wealth is just a flexible interpretation of what you consider total success to be.
Wealth does not mean settling for second best. Yes, you should be satisfied with where you are, but it doesn’t mean that you have to stay in the life you have got. You could strive to be wealthy, regardless of what it means to you personally. It may mean that you could have extra income. It may also mean that you could have far better well-being or possibly a completely different profession. Possibly it is creating a profession coming from anything you happen to be obsessed with or aiming to achieve total well being by working out a whole lot more in addition to eating far better.
Do not allow others establish the method that you assess prosperity. It is your life and so really should be lived to the best of your skills. Take the time to figure out what your own meaning of prosperity is and exactly what actions may well be essential so that you can attain that degree of achievement.
Hi, John. First, I want to congratulate on the new look for your blog. It’s sharp!
I read an article in the Huffington Post recently about locations in the world where people are the happiest as a whole. I don’t recall the third country, but the first two countries were Indonesia and Mexico. In part, the study postulated, the solid extended family network makes for solid relationships. So, I conclude that relational prosperity is a significant component of true prosperity.
Great post John, It is true that for many people prosperity means big homes and luxury cars. I think that for me, it has a more profound meaning. I believe that you are prosperous if you have mastered all aspects of growth and that money is mot the issue. Sure as a prosperous person, I think you are able to offer your family stability and comfort but more importantly, you are able to offer the gift of you presence, wisdom and guidance…oh! and time…a prosperous person is owns his time and freedom.
Hi John,
Wealth and prosperity are exactly what you believe they are! For some that is physical money, others it is spiritual prosperity and wealth. for me it is a combination of both. My friends make me feel prosperous and wealthy. Looking at the beautiful mountains around me make me feel wealthy and prosperous. I no longer need to be putting $$$ in my bank account to feel wealthy. Funny thing is that since I dropped the attachment to physical money, I have landed more business and the bank account is expanding!
Thanks for reminding me how life have changed for the better since I changed my perspective on wealth and prosperity.
regards
Clare
Hello John
Eric Butterworth says, “Prosperity is a way of living and thinking, and not just money or things. Poverty is a way of living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things.” In your words, “Take the time to figure out what your own meaning of prosperity is and exactly what actions may well be essential so that you can attain that degree of achievement.”, we find a golden nugget about life. We should not allow external systems determine what we think about prosperity or wealth. Benjamin Disraeli said, “Man is not the creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creatures of man.”

Hi Perry,
You have a great list of quotes! I had the pleasure of attending the Unity Church at the Lincoln Center in New York many years ago and ehar him speak. He is inspirational!
I will definitely ponder the quote from Disraeli. Thanks again.
Great post, John! You are so right about the importance of defining what prosperity means. Some of the things that we ignore can have a huge cost, or we could be ignoring something that would be of greater value. Still, I think that each of us has to come to terms with our own definition after thinking about the things that are really important, at least when it comes to personal prosperity.
Great message John! I’m a big believer in individualism and forging new paths – this is a good example. Thanks!
Hey John,
I love this post, the one thing I tell people is not to judge their life off of someone else’s. What is great for them may not be good for you. Your idea of wealth my not be money and a big house. I feel people need to find what it is that will make them happy and then focus on that. This post has a great vibe to it. Thank you for sharing this, TTYL
